~ Twisted Tuna ~

2014-03-21_12-55-19In the past I have written about Twisted Chicken Salad, and it was a huge hit with our readers! To put a spin on things, I was asked to come up with a similar version of the chicken salad recipe using tuna instead. I must say I don’t think I even came close. But what I can tell you is this: everyone that tried the tuna loved it. Hope you do to. If you try it, let me know what you think. You can email me at shelleysdesk@gmail.com Enjoy!

2014-03-07_16-18-07Some of you know my daughter Clara, and have tried many of her recipes! This time she has outdone herself with this Apple Cream Cheese Strudel. It is both pleasing to the eye and pleasing to the palate. This is one I am sure will go over well with friends and family alike. Let me know if you try it; you can send your emails and requests to shelleysdesk@gmail.com. Enjoy!

2014-02-07_16-15-10In my early years of cooking, I mastered this recipe. It was one of my favorites to prepare on cold days. The heat from the stove helped to keep the kitchen nice and warm, and the aroma of the beans kept me longing for what was to come. This seasoned creamy recipe can be served with or without rice. Let me know me know if you try it. You can email me at shelleysdesk@gmail.com Enjoy!

1-17-2014 3-47-18 PMCorn bread without flour… I think so! Mrs. Margaret Miller did it best when she set out to master this cornbread recipe. And master it she did! Margaret was the first resident of Athens that I wrote about in the Athens Now. Sadly she passed away back in October and she is greatly missed.
She was a wonderful cook and she shared her recipes with many.

I had a chance to try some of that delicious cornbread a few weeks back. My first comment was “This is worth writing about.” My second comment was “Ya got any more?”

Let me know if you try it. I always love hearing from our readers, you can email me at shelleysdesk@gmail.com.

12-21-2013 8-32-09 AMJust in time for your holiday party’s…

Try this one on your family and friends! The cayenne pepper and hot sauce give it just the right kick. This cheese is served best very cold. And you should let it sit overnight.

Mother’s Fresh Apple Cake

11-16-2013 10-36-42 AMThe photo of this cake was taken as I pulled the cake fresh out of the oven. Simple and easy to make; I really think that my mother has perfected the “perfect apple cake.” This is a fresh apple cake, no canned apples are used. I know you will enjoy this wonderful dessert for the holidays as you share it with friends and family. It is very tasty and will last for several days.

I hope that you give it a try! You can email me with your questions and comments to shelleysdesk@gmail.com. Enjoy!

11-1-2013 8-52-10 PMWanna try something new? My daughter made these for us several months back. She was not around for me to get the recipe, so I looked it up online. They have several different versions but she assured me that this is the recipe she used.

You can contact me at shelleysdesk@gmail.com if you have any questions. Enjoy!
